SOLD A Lea Stein Rare Vintage 1970s Brooch - Art Deco Revival Style
This unusual Art Deco Revival style layered brooch is the work of Parisian designer Lea Stein. The colours used to make this sculptural pin are the perfect combinations of coffee and cream or even caramel and chocolate - both make for perfect pairing! These colours are used to great effect on this brooch with smooth and craquelure and a realistic tortoiseshell as the laminate finishes. The brooch is made of layered celluloid acetate or rhodoid. The brooch has lots of layers making it 1 cm thick at its deepest part where the raised Ivory cream and faux tortoise like half ball sits in the centre. It is a large brooch, a little over 11cm in length and 2 cm wide. This is a super design like a flash with a central circle plus it has an Art Deco feel to it. This is a vintage brooch dating to around the 1970s period. The reverse is brown in colour with craquelure showing through. It has the usual Lea Stein signature on a wishbone shaped white metal guarded pin. This piece is offered in excellent condition. More usually Lea Stein is known for her animal designs which have featured cats, foxes, dogs, birds and many other things over her history. Now for that history -
