SOLD 1940's Horse Brooch - Sterling Silver USA -amazing detail!
This is an excellent example of a pressed silver Horse brooch. Dating to the 1940s this saddled horse pin is made of sterling silver and is clearly marked STERLING to indicate it is Silver. This brooch measures 2.5 inches by 2.25 inches at is widest points. The horse brooch is in excellent condition. It is left unpolished with its amazing dark pewter-tone Patina relevant to its age. If you wanted it bright - a simple clean with Silver polish or a specialist silver cloth would do the job. This silver 1940s Saddled Horse brooch is very detailed. You can see the hairs on the horse's long tail and mane, the bridle, the horse's facial features with eyes and flared nostrils, ears pricked - there are even dimples to the flank and the muscles and bone structure on the legs are picked out too. The horse has a saddle on. He or She is wearing an amazing saddle which has a Hispanic or Mexican look. The saddle is obviously decorative to represent tooled leather and the silver or other metalwork that commonly adorned mid-western saddles . There are Tapaderos which would have protected the feet in the stirrup, there's the pommel horn, a decorated skirt, and a low gently curved cantle. What a wonderful gift this would be for anyone who loves their Horse or Pony. This could be perfect for the equestrian in your life. This brooch fastens with a silver “c” shaped guard over the long brass metal pin.
