Here we have a simple Sterling silver brooch from Ola Gorie the famous Scottish silversmith working in Orkney.  This classic Celtic brooch is one of her range.  This circular Sterling Silver Brooch was influenced by stonework in the three carvings behind the altar in St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall, Orkney.   Currently being made in both 9ct Gold and 925 Sterling SIlver by the Ola Gorie Jewellery Company this brooch in the smaller 2.6 cm diameter retails at £77 in Silver on their website so do grab yourself a bargain with this large vintage example.  The St. Magnus Silver Pin is in Excellent vintage condition and a gentle clean would restore it to bright shiney newness if required!  This Ola Gorie Siver Brooch measures 3.7 cms in diameter and has a good solid chunky feel to it.  It has the quality you can expect from a world renowned award winning jeweller and a design that is ancient yet has appeal in modern times.   These is a textured pattern to the reverse of this silver brooch where the item has the following hallmarks upon it: OMG for Ola M. Gorie  ( Although the first letter 'o' is distorted as if not there) the letter  R which dates it to 1992 , the Lion Rampant  to show it is 925 Sterling Silver and the Castle which is the mark for Edinburgh where it was assayed.  This silver Ola Gorie St Magnus Brooch fastens with a secure 'roll over' type clasp.
