SOLD. Ola Gorie Silver Thistle Brooch or Pendant set with Real Amethyst Jewel

Here is a traditional Celtic Sterling Silver Brooch set with a natural faceted Amethyst stone.  This Thistle Pin is in the current range of the award winning Scottish jewellery designer Ola Gorie.  The Brooch, which measures 35 mms by 35 mms and has a 6 mm purple amethyst stone in its centre is on the Ola Gorie website priced at £102 so you can bag a bargain from www.bagthejewels.co.uk if you buy here.  This silver brooch has been made by the casting method and depicts 4 thistle flowers and leaves set around the central amethyst.  The hallmarks to the reverse are tiny but I can make out the OMG letters for Ola Gorie and 925 for the silver fineness which confirms that this item of jewellery is sterling silver.  the brooch is in very good used condition with just a few surface scratches which do not detract from its appeal in any way at all.  Perfect for traditional Burn's Night parties. There is another advantage to this piece of jewellery, it has a large sized pendant loop allowing it to slip over a silver chain or silk to wear this pin as a necklace.

Do you know why the Scots use the Thistle as their floral emblem?  Well legend has it that a Viking raider attacking during the night stepped onto a thistle.  The sharp thistle thorns made him yell out in pain and that cry alerted the Scots to the danger and saved them.  What a great reason to choose such a proud wild flower! Hurray for the thistle!
