Miniature Buttonhook - Shamrock Design - Connemara Marble and White Metal CIrca 1900
Buttonhooks are getting very sought after now and a miniature size is always more desirable than the bigger items. Here is a lovely tiny with a carved Connemara marble Shamrock top. This size of hook would have been for fastening and undoing very small buttons indeed - maybe those on ladies gloves or on a row of tiny buttons on a child's outfit. The Irish connection is nice with the Shamrock being a symbol of Good Luck in Ireland. This buttonhook dates to the end of the Victorian era or the beginning of the Edwardian period. The buttonhook has a little ring on it meaning it could have been attached to a chatalaine or watch chain to be quickly employed when needed. This vintage costume accessory is in excellent order and ready to add to a collection of antique buttonhooks.
