English Antique Silver Buckles - Early 20th Century Hallmarked 1913

Here we have a conundrum - are these antique sterling silver buckles for wearing on a gent's knee breeches or should they go on ladies shoes or maybe they were designed for children's shoes?  I am unsure but I am certain that they would add a really beautiful detail to any modern garment. They would also fit well into a collection of antique buckles.   Each sterling silver buckle has a deep hand-engraved pattern around the rim on one side with a bar and two prongs across the middle which would hold the buckle in place. The reverse of each silver buckle is plain with the Lion Passant mark to show that it is English 925 Sterling Silver, the Anchor mark to indicate that it was assayed in Birmingham and the letter 'o’ to indicate the year 1913 when they were hallmarked.  There are also the letters 'A & LLd.' which are the makers' mark.  Each buckle measures 1.25 inches by 0.75 inches and they are in good order.  There is just the expected light surface scratches commensurate with their age.  I have left this pair of antique silver buckles with their patina as it enhances the engraved decoration and ensures that they look their age.  That said it would be very simple to clean up this pair of English Antique Silver Buckles if you wanted them to look new and shiny!
