A Blue Crocodile Brooch By Lea Stein of Paris - or Maybe an Alligator Pin
Sweet, Neat and Petite! Here is an unusual and hugely charming reptile brooch from the famed Parisian Jewellery designer, Lea Stein. Is it a Crocodile or is it an Alligator? Croc or Gator you decide! I rarely get this particular brooch and when I do it always makes me smile, it has humour and is very appealing. This little creature is in a lovely blue colour, the layered laminate has fine stripes. The ball eye is black and beady. This cheeky croc pin or maybe it’s an alligator brooch is a fabulous item of costume jewellery and a real statement piece for your wardrobe or collection. In a typical reptilian pose with tail curved up and mouth closed while he surveys his surroundings, he is ready for action! Lea Stein's brooches were first designed in the 1960s and are as popular now as they were back then. This is a more recent design and in keeping with her Iconic Fox and Cat pins is made from cellulose acetate.
This contemporary Crocodile pin or Alligator brooch measures almost 3.25 inches by three quarters of an inch approximately at its longest and widest parts. This is a cheerful choice and will look fabulous on denim, black or bright outfits. The reverse of this brooch is finished in the same blue colour. I must point out that the blue is vibrant and looks almost turquoise in some lights but a strong bright blue in others. It was very difficult to capture it in my photos and then browsers and phones can also make the colours appear different. It has the traditional white metal wishbone shaped Lea Stein pin back with a roll-over type fastener. The piece is signed - 'Lea Stein, Paris'.
