1950s Rose Brooch - Silver and Marcasite (SOLD)
This English Roses brooch features two lovely blooms on a stem with a decorative leaf. The design is intricate with the use of natural marcasites and lines of silver to create the rose petals and give the brooch a layered effect. The use of space for the centre of the leaf and between the flower heads and the stem makes sure that when pinned onto an outfit this brooch really looks spectacular. Dating from circa 1950s this brooch has age but is in excellent condition with all the lovely grey marcasite stones sparkling well and the silver having just a little patina which adds to the depth of the design. Simply marked 'Silver' on the back this 1950s sterling silver brooch fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. It is a dainty size being 5cms by 2.5 cms. The Rose has always been a romantic flower and is often used in antique jewellery and love tokens.
