1930's/1940's Art Deco Turtle Brooch (sold)
This is a lovely brooch made of carved Casein, a milk based plastic used for costume jewellery, buttons and buckles in the first half of the 20th Century. It is one of the many Bakelite era plastics which are much collected these days. Depicting a Turtle or Tortoise, this pin is great fun and has a wacky appeal. The creature has a deep carved shell with detailed feet and head and is brown with cream mottling. This brooch has a brass pin with an old-fashioned 'c' clasp and measures approx. 5cm by 3cms at its widest points. Use this to add vintage charm to your wardrobe, it will make you smile!
