VINTAGE TIE TACK WITH GREY RIVOLI CUT CRYSTAL - 1970'S (SOLD)

Here we have a vintage tie tack or pin by 'Sophos'.  The pin is finished in a gilt metal and consists of a grey Rivoli cut crystal stone (rivoli is the term used when a stone has its faceted parts pointing upwards) which has great depth and shine.  The stone is claw set and pins through the tie into a twist back guard.  There is a chain and bar attached to this to enable the tie tack to be further secured through a button hole. The gilt metal bar is marked with the word 'SOPHOS'  who are the makers of this vintage tie tack. I would estimate that this tie-pin dates from the 1970's when the Rivoli cut was very popular.  The Rivoli stone measures a little under 1 cm in diameter.  The tie-tack is in excellent condition.
