Vintage Tie Pin - A 1970's Tie Tack set with a Panel of Real Shell

Here we have a vintage tie pin, or tie tack with a real grey shell inlay.  The shell has a good colour and has been mounted onto a gold tone surround back held in place with two side edges. Smart to wear at an angle or in the square position, giving two distinct and stylish looks from one vintage tie tack.  It is simplicity itself to pop this vintage tie tack in place on your tie.  It simply pins through, is held in place by a screw back retainer and also has a chain and bar device so it can be further secured through a button hold.  All very neat and tidy!  Dating from the 1970's era this vintage tie pin is in good condition.  The shell panel on the front of the tie tack measures  just 7mm by 9mm not quite a square.

A potted History of the Tie Pin..................

Ties first became part of a fashionable gent’s attire in the 19th Century. Naturally since then there have been many items of jewellery introduced as tie-control devices. Some of the earlier ones were patented and some innovative ideas were introduced in the form of a pin, tack, clip, clasp, bar, slide and chain.
