Vintage Tie Clip by Sophos - Leaping Salmon Design (SOLD)
This Vintage Tie Clip is by 'Sophos' and it features a detailed painted leaping salmon in shades of white, grey, black and red. The tie clip itself is in a gold plated metal and it fastens on a slide and spring method. Sophos patented this method of attaching a tie clip in the early 1940's and the patent number 511869 is shown on the back of this vintage tie clip along with the 'Sophos' name. I would estimate that this tie clip dates from the 1950s to the 1960s. Measuring 5cms in length and about half a cm wide at its widest points, the leaping salmon tie clip is in good condition with the tinest bits of paint loss on the tips of the fins and tail which are signs of it being used and loved in the past. This fish tie pin is ready to clip onto a tie or to join a collection of vintage tie clips.
