This is a dream of a vintage bag! This evening purse dates from the late1950s into the early 1960s. On a background of shiny irridescent sequins, anchored in place by teeny, tiny seed beads is a floral decoration. There are 18 flowers, 9 on each side of the purse and they are made up using hundreds of tiny round beads in a five petal shape. In the middle of each of these beaded flowers hangs a pretty cream faux pearl drop. The intricate pattern completely covers both sides of the bag. The label within says ' Made in Hong Kong'. Many lovely beadwork bags were imported into the UK from Hong Kong when it was part of the British Empire. This vintage handbag is a good size being approximately 6 inches by 8 inches. It fastens with a gilt kissing type clasp and has a good, robust gold tone snake chain handle, which is 12 inches long in total. It is a convertable purse as the chain handle can be neatly slipped inside to make it into a clutch bag. The interior is a pale cream satin with a pocket to hold a mirror. This handbag is in excellent, clean condition. Its colour and the rich beading, coupled with its floral decoration would make it very suitable for bridal wear.
