Vintage 'Incy Wincey' Spider Brooch Circa 1920s - 1930s (sold)
Here is a cute tiny spider on web brooch which dates to the Art Deco 1920s and 1930s. The brooch is in a silvertoned chrome metal finish and is about the size of a 1p piece - almost 2 cms in diameter In a hexagon shape. What this lovely little vintage brooch lacks in size, it makes up for in impact! The spider with his chrome head, green jewelled thorax and yellow jewelled abdomen is in a realistic position on a web. He has his legs stretched out to one side - just waiting to spring into action! Antique Spider jewelry has been enjoyed and collected for many hundreds of years. The Victorians with their fascination for nature created spiders jewels in precious materials such as diamonds and gold. Whilst this little vintage brooch is only made of base metal and glass it is still a super piece of collectable spider jewellery. The vintage spider on web brooch fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp and back pin. It is in good condition with just a little bit of chrome worn off back to the brass on the high points such as the bend knee tips of the legs. This doesn't detract from the appeal of the brooch and only adds to its antique look. This spider pin is looking for a home on your lapel!
