Vintage Exquisite Brooch - 1960s Elm Leaf Brooch signed Exquisite (SOLD)

This is a very attractive Leaf Brooch, Registered Design Number 914737 from the Exquisite jewelry range dating from the 1960s.  This vintage brooch has been hand painted with cold enamels.  The brooch features three natural looking elm leaves in variegated  shades of green with touches of brown with seeds in yellow and caramel brown.  The brooch has a soft goldtone finish and is in excellent condition.  The Elm Leaf Brooch is signed 'Exquisite' on the reverse and it fastens with a pin and secure roll over type clasp.This vintage  brooch measures  a little under 3 inches by 2.5 inches.

I will include a photocopy of the original 1960's paperwork given out with Exquisite's Leaf Brooches and Earrings range.  The range included Vine, Beech, Horse Chestnut,Elm,Ivy,Cherry,Hazel, Mountain Ash, Oak, Mullberry and Sycamore. This  piece is from the Birmingham manufacturer W.A.P. Watson who were the owners of the 'Exquisite' brand.  I have been advised that the Company made costume jewellery in the Solihull area from 1914 - 1970 but I have not found any written evidence to prove this information.  However, it is certain that the designs of their popular 'Trees of the month' range of jewellery was protected by design registration in the early 1960s.  This would be so lovely to wear on a vintage jacket and would be a jolly addition to your costume jewellery collection!
