Vintage Exquisite Brooch - 1960's Copper Tone Cherries and Leaves Pin signed 'Exquisite' (SOLD)
I was pleased to find this genuine signed 'Exquisite' Brooch as it is slightly different. This brooch has none of the usual enamel colours instead there is a soft coppertone metal finish to the front and reverse of the brooch where the all important 'Exquisite' signature is clear to see. I tried very hard to get the photo just right but whatever I did it came up more silver than copper - it is a warm copper gold colour, not the silvery tone that the photo appears, so please bear this in mind if you are considering purchasing! This nice pin shows four cherries still on the bough with lots of leaves. The brooch which measures 2.5 inches by 2 ins ( 7cms x 5cms) fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. This piece is from the Birmingham manufacturer W.A.P. Watson who were the owners of the 'Exquisite' brand. I have been advised that the Company made costume jewellery from 1914 - 1970 but I have not found any written evidence to prove this information. However, it is certain that the designs of their popular 'Trees of the month' range of jewellery was protected by design registration in the early 1960s. This would be so lovely to wear on a vintage jacket and would be a jolly addition to your costume jewellery collection!
