Vintage Carved Bone Edelweiss Flower Brooch (SOLD)
Here we have a lovely little Edelweiss Brooch, hand carved in bone. It features two layers of petals and a green coloured middle. These kind of hand carved flower brooches were popular souvenirs taken home from Austria, Switzerland and The Black Forest where they were made. They were popular with tourists and generally date from around the 1930s to the 1960's. This cream coloured flower measures 3cms in diameter. To the reverse it is held onto the pin fastener by two tiny screws and it fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp. There are the remains of pencilled numbers on the back - maybe the price? This jolly vintage costume brooch is in excellent order and would brighten up the lapel of a jacket or would sit sweetly at the neck of a blouse.
