Vintage Button - 1930s - 1940s Art Deco Phenolic Resin Bakelite Era
This large, genuine Art Deco “Chocolate” Button is one to add a statement look to a coat, robe or jacket which needs just one large button to fasten it. Or if you prefer it can be retained in position by slipping its metal loop shank attachment through a safety pin and wearing it like a brooch; or simply stitching it in place on a hat, bag or lapel. This interesting button dates to the 1930s or 1940s period and has a chunky appearance with two circular motifs within a rounded triangle motif. The button is step cut and has raised details giving it a striking Art Deco design. The colour is a mottled mid brown. In an early plastic composition material, most likely a kind of Phenolic, this big button is typical of those made of the new man-made plastics such as Bakelite. This large delight is offered in very good condition. Perfect for your sewing projects or to add a bit of Art Deco style to any outfit . This big chocolate button measures 5 cams in diameter with a thickness of almost one cm.
