Unusual Vintage Reverse Carved Lucite Bird Brooch from New Zealand (SOLD)

This vintage brooch was obviously a souvenir piece from New Zealand and dates from circa 1960.  It is an oval of clear Lucite which has been reverse carved to show a black, white and blue bird sitting on a branch with flaming orange leaves.  The letters 'TUI' and 'NZ' are below the bird and to the reverse of the brooch there is a printed paper label applied which says ' Hand Made Internally Carved'.  It is quite a chunky piece with the clear carved lucite front mounted on a white lucite back.  It measures approximately 2 inches by 1 and a half inches and is about one quarter of an inch in thickness.  This cool, collectable early plastic brooch fastens with a secure roll over type clasp and is in very good condition.
