This 1940s - 1950s Dog Pin on Original card is soooo sweet, a lovely black Scottie Dog on a pin! Unused, but stored for all these decades, so it is in mint condition and despite being a vintage costume brooch it is just like new! This little doggie reminds me of the tiny cute pooches that celebrity girls carry around in their handbags as he is neatly parcelled in an old fashioned suitcase. This vintage dog brooch is on a card marked 'Novelty' and has just the word 'Foreign' but I would guess it comes from Japan ( Occupied Japan) and dates from the 1940s to 1950s when items like this were made in celluloid and other plastics. This vintage brooch has a white metal pin with a 'c' type guard. Ready to wear or add to your collection of vintage dog brooches. There is always something very appealling about terriers and this quirky dog pin certainly has appeal. When made it would have been a low cost novelty item so the plastic is light in weight and it is not the most high quality object - its appeal lies in the subject matter and the fact that so many of these little pins are not in original condition having been worn, damaged and losing their painted surface and detail. Card measures almost 3 inches by 2 inches and the early plastic terrier pin itself is 2 inches by 1.25 inches.
