Sword Tie Pin Vintage from Brussels, Belgium. Gold plated, Original Box (SOLD)
Sword tie pins and clips are perfect for adding a touch of decoration to a tie. This example is perfect to adorn the lapel of a jacket or coat and it would look neat on a hat too! This is a vintage pin in perfect order, still travelling with it's original box according to the gent who sold it to me! I have no reason to doubt his provenance as the pin has the continental European closing device known as a "trombone clasp" often seen on French and other European brooches. This gold plated sword pin has a great amount of detail from the cross-hatching on the grip of the handle to the ball tip on the blade. Measuring approximately 2.5 inches by almost half an inch at the widest point I would estimate it dates to the 1960s.
