Stunning Edwardian Sterling Silver Hair comb (SOLD - Art Nouveau Design - Hallmarked Sheffield 1904
Here we have a genuine Antique Edwardian English hair comb. This is a quality piece of early 20th Century jewellery and is the kind of hair ornament that is getting difficult to source. Made of Sterling Silver this comb bears the hallmarks for the Sheffield Assay Office (Crown) the Lion Passant to show it is 925 quality Sterling Silver and the date letter for the year 1904 which is a Gothic m. We also have the benefit of the silver makers' mark which is W & H in a flag. This is the mark of Walker and Hall famous silversmiths renowned for their high quality work. This hair comb has a swirling Art Nouveau design with engraved and pierced work to decorate the top of the hair comb. The two tines or prongs of the hair comb are twisted to make the hair ornament more anchored when in place. This antique hair comb measures 13 cms in total length with the pretty design on the top being 7 cms across the width and a little over 3.5 cms tall. This antique silver hair comb is in excellent condition with just some light surface scratches commensurate with its age. This would make a fabulous addition to a collection of antique and vintage hair ornaments or to a collection of Edwardian jewelry. Robust and wearable the silver hair-comb would grace a pretty hair style.
