Stamp Collection - 1930's 1940s Early Plastic and Enamel Brooch (SOLD)
This is the quirkiest vintage brooch to appear on www.bagthejewels.co.uk! This cool bar brooch, made with the bakelite era plastic Casein is perfect in every detail. Suspended on gilt chain from the duck egg blue coloured plastic are three real enamel miniature stamps, complete with their franking marks and serrated edges. Stamp one is a red 10c stamp from France and the corner is franked 'Paris 1936'. Stamp two on this collectable and rare brooch shows a blue Danish stamp with the frank mark 'Kobenhavn 1938' and the final stamp in our cute collection is a burgundy coloured example from Portugal, franked 'Porto 1936'. Dating from the late 1930s/early 1940s this one off piece of vintage costume jewellery is in perfect condition. The blue casein bar measures 4 cms in length and is about half a cm. Each stamp measures 1cm by a little more than 1cm to give the rectangular stamp shape. The stamps are real enamel on brass and the brooch has a silver coloured metal pin and 'c' type clasp which is held to the back with two screws. It is perfect with just a few little blemishes which are indicative of its age and could be cleaned off it you really wanted to take the trouble. This vintage brooch will appeal to the philatelist, the post person, the traveller, the collector, anyone who likes perfect miniatures and it will certainly get noticed. I love it and I hope you will too, just looking at it makes me smile!
