SOLD. A Set of Antique Mother of Pearl and Silver Waistcoat Buttons in Original Case
Here is a beautiful set of Antique Buttons which would have been used on a gentleman’s dress waistcoat, This set have been crafted from natural mother of pearl shell which as a creamy lustrous finish. There is a simple cross with dots pattern as decoration. This has been achieved by inlaying silver into the shell button. They are a regular waistcoat size, each being a quarter of an inch in diameter. With the applied silver back loop and connector making it the same distance from the top surface of the button to the end of the loop. In my opinion this set dates to the Edwardian period Up to the early 1920s so counts as a genuine antique. This beautiful set if six buttons each with a silver ring attachment is offered in excellent condition in its original case. The case itself, lined with cream silk and velvet, is in reasonably good order but shows appropriate wear to the dark covered outer which is only to be expected. So useful to have a neat closing case to transport this beautiful set around but it is highly likely that keeping these mother of pearl and silver waistcoat buttons inside their case has preserved them as a set of six and is responsible for their excellent condition.
