Sold A Hockey Pin - Victorian Sporting Brooch - 1890 - 1900 Sterling Silver
Crossed Hockey Sticks and a ball adorn this smart Antique silver brooch. Here we have a Sporting Pin dating from the end of the Victorian period so late 19th Century - very early 20th Centruy. Beautifully engraved with detail to the hockey sticks and ball this is very smart. Also as well as the Hockey kit we have a curved scrolled ribbon providing a vacant cartouche intended to be used to personalise the pin- it would be possible to engrave name, initials, team or a date on here should you wish. Measuring just over an inch and half in length by a fraction over half an inch this is a solid and lovely pin. It is marked with the word 'Sterling Silver' to show it is real silver and has a Maker's Mark - S.BROS being the mark of Sydenham Brothers who were working at Tenby Street in Birmingham at that time. This pin is in very good condition with just the colour change to the silver that years of handling can bring. This would be simply to clean with a silver cloth if you wanted this item to really shine like new. The Hockey brooch fastens with a 'c' type fastener. This antique silver brooch would make a great gift for a sportsman or women or would be a really nice addition to a collection of vintage brooches, pins and badges.
