SOLD 1950's Oval Scarf Ring in Pink Coloured Aluminium with Eidelweiss
This is a collectable vintage scarf ring dating from the 1950s. This scarf clip has a super Eidelweiss flower as its main feature. The scarf clip is finished in a pink tone with a diamond shaped rectangular inlaid panel of creamy pearlised Lucite which looks very like Mother of Pearl. The scarf clip has a ring back and is made of anodised aluminium which is extremely light so very suitable for wearing on your vintage silk scarves. Aluminium metal was first used in jewellery manufacture in the Victorian era and it was commercially in use during in the 1860's. Boxes, jewellery and other small items made from it were featured in the Paris Expositon Universelle for the first time in 1855. It also became a popular material for used in the manufacture of costume jewellery just after World War two. Anodised alulminium is often the metal found in necklace chains and bracelets dating from the late 1940s and early 1950s. This vintage Eidelweiss scarf ring has a pearlised plastic inlay which imitates mother of pearl and an elaborately decorated border which is a great background for the central floral design. There is a coloured black background to make the pattern stand out. Measurements are approx 3 cms by 4 cms and this scarf clip is excellent condition.
