SOLD 1930s - 1940s Art Deco Bead Necklace - Marmalade Orange and Lemon Bakelite
In stunning shades of marbled Orange and Lemon this necklace has all the elements that are looked for in collectable Bakelite jewellery. First we have two complementary colours used for the different sized and shaped beads. The largest beads are almost circular chunky discs - three in the marmalade orange swirl and two in the lemon swirl. These measure an inch in diameter and have a thickness of almost 1 cm at their widest parts. Four rounded triangular beads in orange and a number of smaller oval beads in both marmalade colours make up this autumnal necklace.
This Art Deco bead necklace has been graduated throughout and skilfully re-threaded on modern, strong Beadalon. Fastening with its original brass barrel twist clasp this necklace is in very good condition. It measures a generous 21 inches in length including the clasp. My guess is that this is a continental European piece - maybe French in origin - dating from the late 1930s into the 1940s. It has style and is rare and beautiful. This Art Deco period necklace would be a super addition to a collection of early plastics and bakelite jewelry and would appeal to anyone who enjoys wearing or collecting interesting beads.
