SOLD 1920s Silver Name Brooch - DOREEN - Birmingham Hallmarked Sterling Silver
This Doreen name brooch is most unusual for a name pin. It is a little later than my usual name brooches as it dates from the 1920s and has a full Birmingham Assay office hallmark - Lion for Sterling SIlver, Anchor for Birmingham and the date letter 'w' which makes it from 1921. The pin shape is elongated oval with hand engraved border decoration and
with the name DOREEN also hand engraved in fancy lettering. To the reverse, along with the hallmark, there is a plain pin fixing with an old fashioned safety pin type guard clasp.The Sterling silver Doreen name brooch measures just 4cms in length and is 1cm wide at its widest point. It is in great condition and I have left it un-polished as people often prefer antique and vintage jewellery this way but it is very simple to clean up silver jewelry
with a cloth or in dip if wanted.
