SOLD Antique Hair Comb - Tortoiseshell effect with pierced decoration dates to 1914 - 1925.
Here we have a really great hair comb that spans the period around the First World War to the Art Deco era. In designs from that time you get a combination of styles and these are often labelled as 'transitional'. This hair comb looks like a blonde and dark striped tortoiseshell material and it is in fact made from the early plastic material celluloid. The comb is angled up to a point on one side and has lots of pierced designs which combine to ensure it is very pretty. The top of this hair comb sits on three prongs or tines which are well curved to ensure the comb sits at a jaunty angle when placed in the hair. In excellent condition this hair comb measures 7.5 inches by 3 inches in total at its widest and longest points with the teeth being 2.75 inches long.
