Ola Gorie Sterling Silver Luckenbooth Brooch - Traditional Scottish Jewellery (Sold)

Brooches which depict double entwined hearts topped by a crown are known as Luckenbooth brooches. This style of jewellery originated in 16th Century Edinburgh. They were given as love tokens or lucky charms for warding off witches, and sold in the locked - or 'lucken' - booths on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. This sweet, small sterling silver brooch is delightful.  Made by the Ola Gorie Company it is a perfect miniature work of art.  Measuring just 22cms by 17cms this vintage brooch is in excellent condition needing just the most gentle clean to make it look like new!  As Ola Gorie has designed and worked for many decades this piece, traditonal and very Scottish, is likely to be vintage but it is still in her current collection where it sells at over £70 so you can really grab yourself a bargain here.  The brooch has the OMG maker's mark along with ST.SIL for Sterling Silver. It fastens with a secure roll over clasp.
