Lucite Brooch from the 40s to 50s Era with Two Pale Mauve Flowers
Two pale mauve flowers with leaves are featured on this reverse-carved Lucite Brooch. Dating from the late 1940s into the early 1950s the brooch is round in shape with a stepped and gently tapered rim which, like a mirror, reflects the colours of the bouquet and adds to its effect. The pale mauve blooms are open and multi petalled. They have a soft faded effect and the leaves are almost a very pale green to silver white The diameter of this vintage brooch is 1.75 inches and it is a chunky 1 cm thick. The floral lucite brooch has a silver tone metal pin which fastens with a guarded end a little bit like an old fashioned tie pin. It is in really good condition with just a tiny bit of crazing visible inside from specific angles. This is indicative of its age and doesn't detract from the beauty or wearability of this collectable old brooch from the past. .
This vintage pin is a great collectable for anyone interested in Bakelite era and early plastics . Lucite was Dupont's trade name for their acrylic plastic material which they patented in the 1930's and is usually the name given to brooches and pins of this type. The most common theme for them is flowers, some abstract and Art Deco in design, others very detailed - so you can tell exactly which flower is being depicted! Lucite brooches are see through so take on the colour of the item of clothing that they are pinned to. They look fresh and pretty on white and light colours and striking and dramatic on black and dark colours - How will you wear yours?
