Little Wooden Souvenir Badge with Silver TASMANIA map Circa 1900 -20s (Sold)

The photo doesn't really do this lovely old wooden antique pin much justice, but it does allow you to see how naive and different this hand made souvenir pin is.  It is a tiny Boomerang made from wood ( I'm unsure which type but would imagine it would make sense for it to be a species native to Tasmania).  There is a small silver coloured white metal outline map of the Island applied to the front with the word 'TASMANIA'  in block capitals across the middle.  To the reverse the pin mechanism is held onto a back plate with the use of two little pins and the piece has an old fashioned 'c' type clasp to fasten it.  In general this is in good vintage condition. There is a small nick out of the wood to the reverse which I mention just for accuracy.   The piece has been varnished over and there are traces of old varnish over the back plate.  Neither of these things spoil this interesting old collectable. It would benefit from a bit of a polish to the white metal, or possibly real silver?, map - I will leave this up to the purchaser as overcleaning can make old things look too new!  It could be a brooch for a lady, a tie pin for a gent or just a badge.  I would guess it dates from between 1900 to 1940. An unusual item for anyone interested in collectables and souvenirs from Australasia.
