Huge Crysanthemum Brooch signed Exquisite - 1960s Rare Style Brooch (SOLD)
This is a very unusual brooch, a rarer style of the popular cold enamel Chrysanthemum pin by Exquisite Jewellery Ltd., of Solihull, Warwickshire, England. It was one of their range of Birthday Flower Brooches introduced and extremely popular during the 1960's. These pins came in two sizes with a flower for every month of the year! There was also a range labelled up as 'The New Birthday Brooch Range'. I believe this large sized crysanthemum is from that particular series. The Company also had a range of Leaf pins and matching earrings, as well as many other lines in quality costume jewellery. The Chrysanthemum Brooch is the pin for November. It has a gold tone finish and is good naturalistic flower with the petals picked out in mauves with white and the leaves in bright green. The hand painted cold enamel fiish which features on many of these designer pins means that every one is slightly different. It is in very good vintage condition. What a great gift for anyone who has a November Birthday! It would also be good for anyone who is collecting the work of the 'Exquisite' factory. Approximate measurements are almost 3 inches by a little under 2 inches. This item fastens with a rollover type clasp and has the all important Exquisite mark on the reverse of the brooch.
