Geometric Art Deco Necklace in the Style of Jacob Bengel - 1930's SOLD

This vintage necklace has all the features that Art Deco jewellery collectors look for.  Strong styling with geometric art deco decorated panels, chromed metal work and a bold circular disc of early plastic in orange which was a popular colour in the 1930s. It is reminiscent of the work of European designer, Jacob Bengel who used bakelite era plastics such as Galilith and chromed metals to make his jewellery.  This necklace is likely to be continental European and the plastic used in it is Galilith or Casein.  The orange plastic disc and cylinder beads have a slightly crazed surface which confirms that it is the milk based plastic rather than true Bakelite.  This art deco necklace is in good condition (with only the light crazing on the surface of the casein to point out which doesn't really detract in any way.) This vintage art deco necklace measures approx 17 inches, fastening with a bolt ring type clasp.  The  plastic disc is 18mms in diameter whilst the chrome frame for the disc is 20mms approx.
