Cream Bridal Handbag - 1950s - Seed Beads and Pearls - Austrial Crystal Jewelled Clasp (SOLD)
This creamy, white evening purse is a vintage 1950s accessory. It is very beautiful with an unusual shape and fabulous beaded decoration. It is absolutely covered with tiny round pearlised glass beads. Then on top of the beaded areas loops of the same beads have been used to form two large, abstract flower heads with stems and leaves. To the centre of each flower head 3 round faux pearls are used to great effect. This intricate pattern completely covers both sides of the bag. It is exquisite! The bag is a large size being approximately 9 inches by 7 inches. It fastens with a jewel-set silver coloured kissing type clasp which is a filigree design. The two jewels claw set in the clasp are large faceted Austrian crystals that sparkle with all the colours of Auro Borealis, pinks, golds, greens and blues. There is a decorative chain handle, which is 12 inches long approximately. This chain and the frame of the bag are silver coloured metal . The interior, which is cream satin, does suffer from brown marks, probably caused by incorrect storage over the years. It has a pocket to each side which is elasticated and pleated designed to hold your mirror, hanky or cosmetics. Apart from the discolouration mentioned the bag is in excellent, clean condition. Its colour and the rich beading would make it very suitable for bridal wear; its unusual design makes it a 'must' for adding to a collection of vintage handbags and purses.
