Circular Scarf Clip in Russian Gold Coloured Aluminium - Modernist Design 1960s
This is a collectable vintage scarf ring dating from the 1960s. This scarf clip has a domed modernist black central panel with abstract raised squiggles as its main feature. The scarf clip is finished in a gold tone known as Russian gold where it has a slightly pink hue - not enough to be rose gold, but on that spectrum. With a decorated gallery on the gold metal rim and a blackened background this is a smart design. There is a coloured black background to make the pattern stand out. Measurements are 1.5 inches in diameter and this scarf clip is good condition.The domed centre rises up to be 3-D. The scarf clip has a ring back and is made of anodised aluminium which is extremely light so very suitable for wearing on your vintage silk scarves. Aluminium metal was first used in jewellery manufacture in the Victorian era and it was commercially in use during in the 1860's. Boxes, jewellery and other small items made from it were featured in the Paris Expositon Universelle for the first time in 1855. It also became a popular material for used in the manufacture of costume jewellery just after World War two. Anodised alulminium is often the metal found in necklace chains and bracelets dating from the late 1940s and early 1950s.
