Bunch of Flowers Scarf Ring - 1950s Aluminium Scarf Clip (Sold)
This is a most useful vintage scarf ring in a circular form. The outer edge of the vintage scarf clip consists of a stylised border which as an Art Deco type design to it. Then there is a panel of creamy pearlised Lucite which looks very like Mother of Pearl. The scarf clip has a ring back and is made of silver tone anodised aluminium which is extremely light so very suitable for the purpose. Aluminium metal was first used in jewellery manufacture in the Victorian era and it was commercially in use properly during in the 1860's. Boxes, jewellery and other tiny objects made from it were featured in the Paris Expositon Universelle for the first time in 1855. It also became a popular material for costume jewellery just after World War two and is often found used for necklace chains and bracelets in the late 1940s and early 1950s. This scarf ring has a neat bunch of flowers on its pearlised plastic inlay which imitates mother of pearl and the art deco border is picked out on a coloured black background to make the pattern stand out. Measuring 1.25inches in diameter this scarf clip is in Excellent condition. Scarf rings and clips can add a whole new look to your silk scarves as they allow you to fasten them on the shoulder or around the neck in a secure manner.
