Bakelite Buckle from the Art Deco Era with Tribal Style Carving
Here is a great example of Art Deco design on a Bakelite or phenolic resin dress buckle from the 1930s to 1940s period. With a slightly opaque, creamed corn yellow colour this vintage buckle would look great with many types of fabrics and with a whole range of colours too. The buckle has a simple metal pole down its open centre with a bakelite tongue which moves and would be used through a punched hole to secure a belt in place. The design of this wonderful buckle is simple square and slash carvings on a stepped rectangle. Measuring approx 8cms square at its widest points and with a thickness of about 7mms this is a robust and useful vintage accessory. It is offered in Excellent order for your vintage Bakelite collection or for your next dressmaking project!
