Art Nouveau Slider Buckle with Floral Decoration
This shiny pierced and engraved buckle has an all over design of leaves and flowers on it. The metal appears to be silver plated or possibly chromed. It could be that this is a transitional piece between the sinous Art Nouveau and the cleaner lines of Art Deco; making it date from the early 1900s to the mid 1920s. It is a squared shape measuring approximately 2 inches by 2 inches. It is in excellent vintage condition. This lovely old buckle fastens on a slider with pointed teeth closures. It also has the benefit of a rounded hook over part too ,which could be used to secure it in place by slipping into a 'buttonhole' type opening sewn into a belt. Very usuable still, especially for those dressmakers who design their own clothing, it would add great antique style to any belt or outfit!
