Art Nouveau Hat Trim - Celluloid Floral Sew-On Hat Ornament
Here we have a superb antique hat sew-on made in the early plastic material Celluloid. This hat decoration dates to the first quarter of the 20th Century circa 1910 - 1920.it is a lovely large size being approx 7.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches at its widest point. The hat flash shows 5 deep blue harebell flowers and one blue bud on a straw gold coloured stem. The flowers sit within two large leaves coloured in green and gold with black veining. The flowers and leaf hat ornament finishes with a long stem in bronze, the end of the stem is angled. The colours on this hat decor have all been hand painted and the reverse is all in straw gold with obvious brush strokes. There are two tiny holes through the stem to allow the decoration to be stitched onto a hat at a jaunty angle.
