Art Deco Revival Collar - Diamante Necklace from the 1950s - 1960s (SOLD)
Here is a perfect diamante collar necklace in the Art Deco style. Simple and chic, this jewel set collar uses small faceted round diamante and large oblong jewels to great effect. In Excellent condition this vintage necklace has the chic style that makes it suitable for any smart occasion. The design consists of four bands of round, claw set jewels interspersed with the large rectangular cut crystals. The quality of this piece indicates that the gems are the finest Austrian crystal. Austrian crystal is good quality lead cut glass with foiled backs and it was used to great effect in necklaces and costume jewellery in the past. Stones cut in Austria made their way all over the world and costume jewellery makers in USA and Europe employed them in their designs. This vintage diamante necklace dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s and it is in excellent condition. You have a choice about which length you set it at too. The overall length of this piece of vintage costume jewellery is 16.5 inches with 14 inches being the main decorative part of the necklace and 2.5 inches making up the fastening part where there are 4 ovals to take the hook and vary its size. When worn on the shortest length there is an attractive drop of diamante ending with a larger stone.
