Art Deco Hat Trim - Celluloid Feather Sew-On Hat Ornament
Here we have a superb antique hat sew-on made in the early plastic material Celluloid. This hat decoration dates to the Art Deco period in the early 20th Century circa 1920 to 1930. It is a lovely large size being 6 inches in length and just over an inch at its widest point. The hat flash has engraved lines which do a great job of depicting a stylised feather. The colours on this hat trim being dark pink to burgundy all been hand painted with obvious brush strokes . The reverse is deep burgundy in colour. There are two tiny holes through the stem and one to the top to allow the decoration to be stitched onto a hat at a jaunty angle.
The most likely the hat for this to sit on back then would have been a cloche style.
