Art Deco French Paste Shoe Trims with Pink and White Crystals
Here is a pair of top quality Art Deco period (1920s - 1930s) shoe trims. Each jewelled trim has two perfect cut lead glass crystal round paste stones which sparkle like diamonds and sit either side of a pink faceted rectangular stone. The jewels are good sized - the round white diamante are a little over 1.5cms in diameter whilst the pink jewel in each shoe trim measures approximately 18mms by 15mms. The jewels are all brilliant cut and fabulously sparkly, they are also foil backed which adds to the brightness of the sparkle. The photos don't really show how truly bright these Art Deco Shoe Trims are. The jewels are mounted with four claws holding each into a closed cup setting in a darkened white metal which I think is unmarked silver. To the back of each shoe trim there is a bar and two round loops which would have been for sewing or attaching the shoe trims. They would look amazing on custom-made soft leather pumps or could be used in any number of ways :- they would make beautiful hair ornaments or could adorn an antique or vintage handbag, they would work well as a sew-on accessory for a wedding dress, bridesmaid's frock or special occasion outfit. I believe that these jewelled paste trims originated in France as I have had other pairs in the past and they have often been marked 'made in France'.
