Art Deco French Celluloid Shoe Buckles or Trims - Shades of Brown marked S.G.D.G
Here is a pair of stylish Art Deco period (1920s - 1930s) shoe trims made of the early plastic Celluloid. The look resembles a piano keyboard in a myriad of brown tones. Each trim has brown and chocolate colours used to great effect. There are stepped interlocking patterns in a border which has the same chequered pattern as some of the keys. This Art Deco design Is super. These chequered slim shapes are inlaid into a pearly creamy light fawn coloured background. The actual shape of the shoe trim is a rectangle which is curved to ensure it will sit well when in use on a shoe. These fashionable shoe buckle trims each measure 3cm by 2.25cm and are in great vintage condition. To the back of each shoe trim to the centre there is a brass bar with two oval cut outs which would have been for sewing or attaching the shoe trims. They are marked 'made in France' with the letters S.G.D.G which is the well known Brevete sans guarantee du government patent used by manufacturers to protect their work and designs. These Art Deco shoe trims would look amazing on custom-made soft leather pumps or could be used in any number of ways :- they would make beautiful hair ornaments or could adorn an antique or vintage handbag or hat band. With a little flair they would also work well as a sew-on accessory for the cuffs of a smart suit or formal frock.
