Art Deco 1930s Small Round Evening Purse with Beadwork and Sequins (SOLD)
This is a sweet and small beaded purse dating from the 1930s. It is a classic Art Deco design with a palmate fan shape reminiscent of Ancient Egyptian design. This Art Deco delight purse is decorated with bronze coloured pearlised glass beads which have been hand stitched in place. It also has lots of cream glass beads that look like litte seed pearls and rows of soft gold sequins too. The back of this purse is also decorated in exactly the same design. This vintage purse is round in shape with a diameter of 4 inches. The beadwork is in used order with some beads and sequins missing but it is still gorgeous! It doesn't detract in any way from this little bag's beauty or usefulness. The lining inside is cream in colour and fresh without stains or marks. There is a beaded finger ring to this Art Deco beadwork purse and it fastens with an original old zipper in golden brass with a ball bead chain detail . This type of collectable bead work was often produced in France or Belgium in the 1920s and 1930s. The hand beadwork carried out there in the Art Deco period was exquisite and I would guess that this 1930s Deco bag originated in France or Belgium. This purse would make a great bridal accessory for a vintage wedding as it is so pretty. Its small size would also make it very suitable for a little girl to enjoy.
