Armlet - Flapper Bangle - Gold Swirls and Green Roses - Celluloid - French - Circa 1920 (SOLD)
Flapper bangles or bracelets are a piece of Jazz Age jewellery! Worn above the elbow back in the roaring twenties these bracelets were just the thing! Back then there was a lot of interest in the marvellous new plastics that were being developed and used in the most stylish of costume jewellery. This hollow tube armlet is more than likely of French manufacture and it is made of Celluloid. The design of it is reminiscent of the textiles of that time with clever use of true Art Deco roses, leaves and lines. The colours of the vintage Art Deco bangle are super too - a teal blue and golden yellow with a strong green. Back in those days those dancing flappers were often of a tiny build and so this armlet would be suitable to wear as a bangle for most of us modern girls! Check the size - It has an inner diameter of almost 3 inches and an outer of 3.5 inches. It is offered in excellent condition. Lovely to wear and fabulous to add to a collection of bakelite bangles and early plastic bracelets.
