Antique Venetian Glass Goldstone ‘Wedding Cake” Bead Necklace on Rolled Gold Wires

This is a beautiful example of an Antique Venetian Glass Necklace with Art Nouveau details dating to the early years of the twentieth Century -  circa 1910 to 1920s.   The necklace is made of 13 individual artwork glass beads, six oval and seven round, linked together with fancy rolled gold wires. The blue beads are decorated with slip trailed pink roses, tiny blue and yellow patterns and bands of goldstone glass too.  The Goldstone glass is achieved by incorporating copper  into the glass and the flowers are worked onto the beads - like icing on a cake - hence the term "Wedding Cake Beads". The necklace measures approximately 107cms (42 inches) from clasp to clasp with the round beads being approximately 15mms in diameter (half an inch) and the ovals 2cms (three quarters of an inch) in length.  Each bead has obviously been hand crafted as there is a little variation in design and size as you would expect. This necklace is offered in extremely good condition fastening simply with a hand-made hook and loop.
