Antique Jewelled Brooch in the Arts and Crafts style (SOLD)
This delightful brooch has a touch of Arts and Crafts styling with the design and the choice of jewels. The glass faux jewels used in this brooch have been carefully selected to imitate natural gemstones that were popular with Arts and Crafts jewellers - the oval cabouchons are milky and have the appearance of Moonstones, the little round green glass gems are the colour of Jade and the grande large central glass gem has the appearance of Lapiz Lazuli with its mottled light and dark blue colouring and tiny copper gold flecks. Each of the jewels have been collet set by hand onto the metal backplate. The metal is pressed brass filigree which has an old gold look to it. The brooch is circa 1900 in date - maybe the very end of the Victorian era or the beginning of the Edwardian period. It has a good solid construction and is in excellent condition. In common with other antique brooches from the 19th Century it has a long pin held in place by an old fashioned 'c' type clasp. The brooch has a rounded square shape and is approx 1 inch by 1 inch in size.
