Aluminium Scarf Clip 1950's with Pearl Lucite Panel and Silver-tone Butterfly on Flower Design
This 1950's vintage scarf clip shows a butterfly alighting a daisy type flower. The scarf clip has a ring back and is made of silver tone anodised aluminium which is extremely light so very suitable for the purpose. Aluminium metal was first used in jewellery manufacture in the Victorian era and featured as a new product in the 1860's. It also became a popular material for costume jewellery just after World War two and is often found used for necklace chains and bracelets in the late 1940s and early 1950s. This scarf ring has a pearlised plastic inlay which imitates mother of pearl and an elaborately decorated border with 's' scroll type designs on it. Measuring a bit over 1.5 inches by 1.25 inches this rectangular scarf clip is in very good condition.
