Adam's Delight by Sarah Coventry a 1960s Apple Brooch in Silver tone
A large Apple pin or vintage Brooch signed - Sarah Coventry. This early 1960s era brooch consists of a large detailed Apple with leaves in a silver-tone finish. The metal work has a lovely lined textured effect to the front and a stippled effect on the reverse of each. The Brooch, which fastens with a secure roll-over type clasp is approximately 4 cms in diameter on the apple fruit part but measures 6 cms on it's longest side when you include the leaves and stalk detail. This is a fabulous, fruity treat of a vintage brooch and it is in mint condition. This vintage Sarah Coventry Brooch bears the full signature and has all the style you would expect from the early 1960's when it was made. I have even found the original reference and advertising wording used to describe this exciting 1960s apple brooch when it was first introduced into the quality Sarah Coventry range.
'Adam's Delight - A perfect fashion accent for that suit or dress. Summer or winter apples are always in season and a design from nature is always good taste.'
Sarah Coventry jewellery was named after 'Sarah' the granddaughter of Charles H. Stuart, the founder of the company and the place the family originated from 'Coventry'. It was established in the USA in 1949 and is recognized as the oldest direct selling jewelry company in the world. Most of their jewellery was produced in the USA but they also worked in Canada. The company introduced jewellery to the UK in 'Party Plan' sales a bit like the classic Tupperware approach. You can just imagine how exciting it would have been back in the 1960's to get dressed up and go along to see all the lovely costume jewellery and choose a treasure to buy and wear. As far as I can establish the Sarah Coventry Company continued to run the Party Plan jewellery sales until the 1970's.
